Primary Purpose:

 

To provide childcare services to parents who are students at UCISD.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and Child Development Associates

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

 

Some experience working with children

 

Additional Information: 

 

This position is funded with external funds (State Allotment and/or Federal). Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued receipt of the external funding. All duties/responsibilities comply with the respective fund source activities and requirements.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Supervising and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
  2. Gearing the program to the needs of individual children.
  3. Treating children with dignity and respect.
  4. Helping children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  5. Being responsible for ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  6. Assuming an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
  7. Attend ail staff meetings.
  8. Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspect of professional growth.
  9. Planning and implementing methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the infants/toddlers.
  10. Assisting in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.
  11. Assisting in public relations events.
  12. Welcome babies in the a.m., prepare and feed them breakfast, brush teeth & change diapers
  13. Clean up after breakfast
  14. Change diapers every two hours or as needed throughout the day
  15. Read, talk, sing and interact with babies on the floor. Follow High Reach curriculum lesson plan.
  16. Prepare for lunch time, wash their hands and make sure mats are ready for then as soon as they finish lunch we pat them down for nap time.
  17. Upon awakening change their diapers.
  18. Give them their snack and prepare to go home.
  19. Work on bulletin boards, die-cuts and make any copies needed for the following day.
  20. Sanitize the classroom daily as well as the diaper changing area after each use.
  21. Write weekly curriculum and turn in to Day Care Director
  22. Keep track of daily reports for each individual child on the amount of times the baby was changed and what the baby ate for that day. A copy must always be sent home with parents.
  23. Use a blower on the playground every morning to ensure safety for the children during outdoor play.
  24. Each classroom is a different age so duties may vary due to ages of children.
