Primary Purpose:
Provide student support by working to increase attendance and positive school-student engagement through mentorship, mediation, and conflict resolution under the direct supervision of the campus principal.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Desire to learn and grow in the job/work environment
Ability to organize and lead a group of students
Ability to maintain emotional composure in stressful situations
Ability to read and follow instructions
Basic computers skills (i.e. data entry, report writing)
Experience:
Prior experience supervising others, working with children, and program implementation a plus
Additional Information:
This position is funded with external funds (State Allotment and/or Federal). Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued receipt of the external funding. All duties/responsibilities comply with the respective fund source activities and requirements.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Maintain a high level of visibility on campus.
- Notify the administration team of concerns of threats or impending threats of violence.
- Compile evidence and data on grades, attendance, and discipline on identified students.
- Look for unusual activities and suspicious activities among student groups.
- Provide effective and efficient crisis communication to the administration team.
- Remain alert to detect possible student conflict.
- Lead a group of students and assist in providing means of effective mediation and conflict resolution for their peers in conflict, as requested by campus officials.
- Document and track in the District system for tracking, mediation/conflict resolution offered and status of cases.
- Home visits as needed.
- Provide written or oral reports as required.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics.
- Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
- Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, visitors and co-workers.
- Exercise dependability, punctuality and reliability in the performance of assigned duties; assume responsibility for safe working conditions and exercise safe working habits.
- Attend training as needed that pertains to this position.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged standing and walking.
Motion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of mouse
Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust, frequent district wide travel.
Other: Specific hearing and visual requirements; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent and armed confrontations; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
