Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: 3- Inst. Support (197 Days)
Primary Purpose:
Organize, monitor and support the parent involvement initiatives at the campus level and district level. Provide support for campus personnel concerning student attendance, achievement, and behavior.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma
Associate's degree preferred
Special Knowledge Skills:
Proficient typewriting, word processing and file maintenance skills
Efficient organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use personal computer and software
Effective communication and organizational skills
Ability to interpret for parents as needed
Perform functions from written and oral instructions
Experience:
One to three years’ work experience, preferably in the public education environment
Additional Information:
This position is funded with external funds (State Allotment and/or Federal). Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued receipt of the external funding. All duties/responsibilities comply with the respective fund source activities and requirements.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Provide culturally and developmentally programs and materials for parents.
- Recommend and provide assistance in the services for parent staff development and instructional strategies for the successful education for students.
- Plan necessary time and materials to support the educational goals.
- Conduct meetings with school personnel and parents of students to focus on the problems students face and provide possible solutions and services.
- Maintain a communication system that effectively collects and disseminates information to parents as appropriate.
- Coordinate with the parent involvement program to plan the yearly public forum.
- Provide assistance to principals, counselors, teachers, and parents regarding all aspects of the parenting program.
School/Organizational Climate / Morale

School Organizational Improvement
- Ensure the administrators and teachers receive information concerning parental involvement activities.
- Collaborate in the development and articulation of a common vision for the district.
Personnel Management
- Comply with applicable personnel policies.

Administrative and Fiscal / Facilities Management
- Maintain inventory of fixed assets, equipment and supplies in the parent liaison office.
- Maintain physical and computerized files as required by Title I for the Parenting Program.
- Recommend appropriate purchase orders in accordance with the policies for the parenting program.
Student Management Relations
- Collaborate with the counselor(s) to ensure that appropriate conferences with parents
- Review and be knowledgeable of the UCISD Student Code of Conduct.
- Use an effective referral process to help parents and others use special programs and services.
School/Community Relations
- Serve as a liaison to the appropriate community agencies.
- Maintain good rapport with district and campus faculty and staff.
Professional Growth and Development
- Attend professional growth activities to enhance the parenting program.
- Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
Student Performance
- Promote parent involvement in the area of academic progress and assessment performance to ensure the academic success of the students.
- Support the efforts of others to achieve district goals, objectives, and campus performance objectives for parent involvement as it promotes student success.
