Primary Purpose:
To provide childcare services to parents who are students at UCISD.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and Child Development Associates
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
Experience:
Some experience working with children
Additional Information:
This position is funded with external funds (State Allotment and/or Federal). Continuation of this position is contingent upon continued receipt of the external funding. All duties/responsibilities comply with the respective fund source activities and requirements.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervising and implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
- Gearing the program to the needs of individual children.
- Treating children with dignity and respect.
- Helping children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
- Being responsible for ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment of the classroom.
- Assuming an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
- Attend ail staff meetings.
- Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspect of professional growth.
- Planning and implementing methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the infants/toddlers.
- Assisting in the ongoing evaluation procedures needed to assess the developmental levels of the children.
- Assisting in public relations events.
- Welcome babies in the a.m., prepare and feed them breakfast, brush teeth & change diapers
- Clean up after breakfast
- Change diapers every two hours or as needed throughout the day
- Read, talk, sing and interact with babies on the floor. Follow High Reach curriculum lesson plan.
- Prepare for lunch time, wash their hands and make sure mats are ready for then as soon as they finish lunch we pat them down for nap time.
- Upon awakening change their diapers.
- Give them their snack and prepare to go home.
- Work on bulletin boards, die-cuts and make any copies needed for the following day.
- Sanitize the classroom daily as well as the diaper changing area after each use.
- Write weekly curriculum and turn in to Day Care Director
- Keep track of daily reports for each individual child on the amount of times the baby was changed and what the baby ate for that day. A copy must always be sent home with parents.
- Use a blower on the playground every morning to ensure safety for the children during outdoor play.
- Each classroom is a different age so duties may vary due to ages of children.
